Understanding and managing Merits

Merits are the credits used when you run cloud AI models across the Grout ecosystem. This article explains how they work and how to manage them.

How Merits work

Every account comes with a set amount of Merits included with its subscription. As you use cloud AI models, Merits are drawn from that balance. When you need more, you can top up at any time from your account.

What uses Merits

Cloud AI models consume Merits when you use them — for example, the 300+ cloud models in Grout App. Running models locally does not use Merits.

Managing your Merits

1. Open your account settings and go to Merit management.

2. Review your current Merit balance and usage.

3. Top up Merits whenever you need more.

Tip: make your Merits last

Where a product offers Local AI or local engines — such as Local AI in Grout App or local TTS/STT in Grout Film — using them avoids consuming Merits.
